# Activities in Summer 2018

As summer is approaching, we would like to take the opportunity to highlight a few events that will take place at FRIAS in Freiburg.

• As usual, there will be many guests around. Long-term fellows and visitors for the upcoming months include  Bernstein, Brunebarbe, de Cataldo, Eyssidieux, Ivorra, Miebach, Nicaise, Riche, Wendt. Short-term visitors include Gross, Makisumi, Mustata, Popa, and Voisin.
• We participate in the Number Theory days, organised by Our partner institution, Universität Basel from June 01-02, 2018. Check this web page for details and a schedule.
• This summer’s edition of the  Joint Seminar (Basel, Freiburg, Nancy, Saarbrücken, Strasbourg) will concentrate on the decomposition theorem for singular spaces with vanishing first Chern class. The seminar takes place on 19 June 2018 at our partner institute in Strasbourg.
• As part of the cooperation between the FRIAS Research Focus on “Cohomology”, the Research Training Group GK1821, we are pleased to announce a Summer School on Geometric and Combinatorial Aspects of Algebraic Representations of Algebraic Groups in Positive Characteristic in the last week of July.

You are welcome to join our activitied if you are interested!

# Summer School on Geometric, Algebraic and Combinatorial Methods in Modular Representation Theory

As part of the cooperation between the FRIAS Research Focus on “Cohomology”, the Research Training Group GK1821, we are pleased to announce a summer school on geometric and combinatorial aspects of algebraic representations of algebraic groups in positive characteristic in the last week of July.

There will be two courses, by Simon Riche and Shotaro Makisumi. Simon will be at FRIAS three months fom may to july and Shotaro will come for most of july.

Please see this web page for more information

# Winter School in $\mathbb{A}^1$-Homotopy Theory

As part of the cooperation between the FRIAS Research Focus on “Cohomology”, the Research Training Group GK1821 and the SPP 1786 progrqm “Homotopy Theory and Algebraic Geometry”, we are pleased to announce a  winter school on $\mathbb{A}^1$-Homotopy Theory that will take place in Freiburg from February 5 to 9, 2018.

The school will cover the basic constructions of the unstable and stable $\mathbb{A}^1$-homotopy categories, along with the relevant category-theoretic methods, such as model structures, left Bousfield localization and symmetric spectra. These constructions will be applied to more recent developments, such as the questions of $\mathbb{A}^1$-contractibility and the minus-part of the stable $\mathbb{A}^1$-homotopy category.

Please see our web page for more information.

# Activities and Visitors in Winter

FRIAS fellows Frédéric Deglise, Johannes Nicaise and Gisbert Wüstholz are currently in residence, and are joined by Bradley Drew, Oliver Bräunling and Matthias Wendt from the side of the math department. Jorge Pereira will join us in December, Gerard van der Geer will come in January.
